Parkinsons Disease Essay -- Disorders Illnesses PapersParkinsons DiseaseIn 1817, James Parkinson publish his famous treatise An Essay on the Shaking Palsy, describing the symptoms which now collectively knuckle under his name. Although many scientists before his time had described various aspects of motor disfunction (ataxia, paralysis, tremor) Parkinson was the first to collect them into a common syndrome one which he believed organize a distinctive condition. His sixty-six page essay contained five chapters describing symptoms, derivative diagnoses, causality, possible treatments, and prospects for future study. What is most intriguing concerning Parkinsons analysis (besides its consistent accuracy) is the fact that his clinical observations and inferences were made by watching the movements of six patriarchal males at a distance along the streets of London. The symptoms seen in Parkinsons Disease (PD) are of two distinct types (1) a degeneration of normal actions and movements linked with (2) the appearance of abnormal-type behaviors. Positive symptoms are those behaviors not usually seen in normal people since they occur often in patients with PD, they are thought to be mechanistically inhibited by normal physiological systems. However, when these systems degenerate or become damaged, they are released and abnormal behavior is the result. The main abnormalities seen in Parkinsonian patients are resting tremor, muscular rigidity, and anesthesia. Resting tremors occur while the patient is motionless the symptoms disappear during legal action or when the patient is asleep. The Tuskegee formman For my term paper I chose the Tuskegee throwaway. They will alway be the most influential air squadron during WWII. I think this because there where a lot racist people that did non want them to succeed, but they did more than than just succeed. They became the first black Air Force pilots. It all started when president Roosevelt arranged a meeting in September 1940 with three African-American leaders and members of the Army and Navy. During the meeting, the leaders emphasized three points(1)equal opportunity for jobs in the defense industry, (2)impartial administration of the new draftlaw, and (3)an opportunity for qualified blacks to learn to cut down in desegrated units.*1*A few days later after the meeting, the War Depart handstissued a policy directives stating that black men generally would be admitted into the armed force in numbers identical to their percentage in the civilian population.But it was not until a couple on months after the meetin g in December 1940, that the Army Air army corps submitted a plan for the experiment to establish an all-black fighter squadron.The plan was not official until July 19, 1941 when Major General Walter Weaver, commander of the U.S. Armys southeast Air corps spoke at the Tuskegee Institute Campus.*2*It was whence that 13 black men became the first black pilot trainees. near of the trainees were college graduates, including a policeman, an army officer, a factory inspector, and several young men who were fresh out of college.
